According to statements and reports from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), 19 members of the military council forces were killed in various engagements across Myanmar on April 8. These casualties occurred during clashes in different states and regions, resulting from offensive operations conducted by People’s Defense Forces. The PDFs have been carrying out counter-attacks in response to the military council’s ongoing violence against civilians.
According to PDF statements, their forces engaged in defensive operations against military council troops who were conducting raids on villages, arresting and torturing civilians, looting properties, and burning down buildings. The People’s Defense Forces have been responding to protect civilians from these aggressive actions by the military council. However, it should be noted that these casualty figures cannot be independently verified on the ground by free journalists due to current circumstances.
The military council continues to force civilians into military service, mandatory military training, and compliance with their orders, resulting in the loss of people’s security and rights. As a result, the People’s Defense Forces have stated in their announcements that they will continue their operations against military council forces to protect the lives, properties, and well-being of civilians. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to defending civilian populations against the military council’s oppressive actions and forced conscription policies.
