In Hakha City, Chin State, one police officer and two military servicemen have defected to the Chinland Defense Force (Hakha) with their weapons and ammunition. On April 6, 25-year-old police officer Thant Zin Phyo, who was stationed at an agricultural farm in Hakha, left his post and surrendered to the Chinland Defense Force, bringing with him one BA-63 (G3) rifle, 147 rounds of ammunition, and one magazine. Similarly, on March 25, two military servicemen stationed in Hakha also defected to the Chinland Defense Force, bringing their weapons and ammunition with them.
The Chinland Defense Force (Hakha) warmly welcomed the police officer and soldiers who left the military council’s control to join the people’s revolution. The organization has provided monetary rewards to the defectors and promised to ensure their safety by relocating them to secure locations. The Chinland Defense Force has also announced that they will continue to welcome anyone who wishes to leave the military council’s oppression and join the people’s side at any time. They have assured potential defectors that they need not fear retaliation from the military council and can find safe refuge with their organization. The defections represent a continuing trend of security forces choosing to abandon the military council and align themselves with the civilian resistance movement.
