The casualties from the military council’s side included the column commander and platoon commander Nga Maung (aka) Ba Kyaw among the seven killed, with 16 others injured. Among the injured were one person who lost a leg, two who lost arms, and two who were blinded in both eyes.
The bodies of two deceased officers and 11 severely injured personnel were transported to the 1000-bed hospital in Naypyidaw via Mi-17 helicopter. The deceased column commander and platoon commander were reportedly from Yangon, with the column commander dying from abdominal injuries. Among the injured was Captain Khant Myo Maung, who was stationed in Yarkyi Pyin Pyu village in Pauk Township, who lost one leg and one arm in the attack.
This attack was carried out in retaliation for the military council troops’ sniper attacks on two PDF members in western Pauk Township. The operation was led by the Sayphyu Lone Tiger Force (LDF) in collaboration with Pauk Southern Zone 1 PDF, local PDF, and the People’s Democratic Army/People’s Democratic Organization (P.D.O/P.D.A). The coordinated attack demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region and their ability to conduct precise military operations against military council targets.
