Five members of the military council were killed during an attack by resistance forces while transporting materials for bunker construction in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, according to a spokesperson from the Mahura Shwebo Group. The incident occurred on March 26 at approximately 8:30 AM when revolutionary forces armed with small weapons ambushed military council personnel who were transporting construction materials from dismantled houses in Ziphyukone Pyusawthi village to build bunkers in Thilone village.
During the engagement, five individuals from the military council side were killed, including one police officer and four Pyusawthi village members, among them their leader Bhtaw. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The military council forces had been dismantling houses in Ziphyukone village and were transporting wooden materials and house posts to construct bunkers in Thilone village when they were attacked.
According to the Mahura Shwebo Group representative, although military council forces from Zipyukone and Thilone villages returned fire during the clash, the resistance forces had to withdraw due to an imbalance in weaponry. The spokesperson also revealed that the resistance forces currently need supplies of weapons and ammunition, while internally displaced civilians in the area require humanitarian assistance for their basic needs.
The operation was jointly carried out by Mahura Shwebo PDF, DaungMann, Zeyathway, Sanke Eyes Alliance, One Day Group, and local People’s Defense Forces. The attack was aimed at protecting local civilians from military council oppression and preventing the strengthening of military council positions in the area. The coordinated effort demonstrates the continued resistance against military council control in the region and the ongoing struggle to protect civilian populations from military aggression.
