The Anya Pit Taing Htaung Lay Group has donated a meal to internally displaced persons (IDPs) at a long-term refugee camp in Salingyi Township on behalf of donors. The displaced civilians in the camp had to flee their homes due to the military council’s artillery attacks and burning of villages. This food donation from benefactors serves as crucial assistance for the displaced civilians who are struggling to meet their basic needs.
Members of the Anya Pit Taing Htaung Lay Group personally visited the IDP camp to ensure proper distribution of food supplies. They prioritized distribution to children, elderly persons, and women in the camp. As displaced civilians face significant daily challenges in securing food and basic necessities, such support from civil society organizations serves as a lifeline for their survival.
The civilians taking shelter in IDP camps are unable to return to their homes due to ongoing threats and violence from military council troops. While there is an increasing need for humanitarian assistance, the military council continues to restrict and block humanitarian aid, creating severe challenges for displaced communities. However, local civil society organizations continue to risk their lives to provide support and assistance to those in need.
