
A battle broke out on the Shwebo-Yay Oo Road in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths of at least 5 military council soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members, according to a spokesperson from the Shwebo Township People’s Defense Force (PDF). The engagement occurred on March 25, lasting from 9:20 AM to 12:35 PM, when PDF forces launched drone attacks and artillery strikes against military council troops and Pyu Saw Htee members who had entered an island plantation area and the Ut Shit Kan cemetery. During the confrontation with forces emerging from the cemetery, at least 5 soldiers were killed, many were wounded, and some military equipment was captured.
The military council forces and Pyu Saw Htee members involved in the battle were from Pan Yan village, Khun Taung Gyi village, Zee Kone Lay village, and Zee Phyu Kone Pyu Saw Htee village. During the battle, military reinforcements arrived at Mae Gon village in Shwebo town in two vehicles. Military positions at Infantry Battalion 42, the Road Transport Administration Office, and Shwebo Lake provided continuous artillery support using 122mm weapons. The operation was conducted under the command of the Shwebo Township PDF commander, led by the PDF Strike Force, and included coordinated efforts from the Federal Tech Shwebo-Drone Force, Territory-5, Territory-1, and Territory-2 PDF units.
The People’s Defense Force members successfully withdrew from the operation without suffering any casualties, according to officials. This engagement represents a significant operation aimed at protecting the security and rights of local civilians, with the PDF describing it as an important success for regional stability and peace. The coordinated action demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting complex military operations against the military council’s troops and their affiliated groups in the Sagaing Region, which has been a major center of resistance against military rule.
