
According to a statement from a People’s Defense Force (PDF) official in Myingyan Township, one local resident was killed and multiple houses were destroyed when the military council forces attacked Kan Sint village in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, with heavy artillery and airstrikes. The incident occurred around 11:10 PM on March 20, 2024, when the military council forces initially launched an attack on Kan Sint village using approximately 50 howitzer shells, followed by aerial bombardment.
During the attack, U Hla Ko, a 40-year-old resident who was taking shelter in a bomb shelter, came out to assess the situation when his house was directly hit by an airstrike, resulting in his immediate death and the destruction of his home. The military council’s artillery barrage and airstrikes also caused numerous houses in Kan Sint village to catch fire, forcing local residents to flee to safer locations.
The brutal attack by the military council forces has resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives and property, with internally displaced persons now facing significant challenges regarding food, shelter, and basic necessities, according to local sources. The military’s indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas have continued to cause widespread destruction and displacement in the region, with local communities bearing the brunt of the violence.
