
The Military Region 1 has announced that a combined force of resistance groups successfully attacked military council reinforcement troops in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in 33 military council casualties, including officers and soldiers, while 31 soldiers were captured and 54 weapons were seized.
The battle took place on March 15 near Pan Mountain and Small Pan Mountain, close to Pin Lut village at the border of Indaw and Katha townships in Sagaing Region. The military council column, consisting of approximately 150 personnel, was led by Major Lin Htet and comprised forces from Infantry Battalions 106, 309, and 6.
The resistance forces included the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF), Katha District Battalion-1, Moetar District People’s Defense Force, and Katha Township People’s Defense Force. During the engagement, 33 military council personnel were killed and 10 were wounded, while 31 soldiers were taken as prisoners of war. Two resistance fighters were reported to have fallen in the battle.
A significant cache of weapons and military equipment was seized from the military council forces, including 29 MA-1 rifles, 6 MA-2 rifles, 12 MA-3 rifles, 3 MA-4 rifles, 1 MA-11 rifle, 1 MA-15 rifle, 1 Anti-Drone Gun, 37 MA-10 grenades, 8,000 MA ammunition rounds, 2,000 MA-15 ammunition rounds, 17 60mm mortar shells, 113 magazines, 1 backpack jammer, 1 communication radio, 1 landline phone, and 12 bulletproof helmets. This battle represents a significant victory for local resistance forces, demonstrating their growing capabilities in the ongoing resistance against the military council.
