The military council continues to conduct aerial attacks in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region. According to local residents, military aircraft bombed the area between Watkone village and Tawya village along the Pathein-Monywa road in Laymyethna Township around 8 PM on March 18. Local sources confirmed that there were no casualties as the bombs fell in an uninhabited area. Residents expressed concern over these unprovoked aerial attacks by the military council, which have caused fear and anxiety among the local population.
Recently, military-affiliated sources have been spreading information about the presence of the Arakan Army (AA) and revolutionary forces in villages near the Rakhine Yoma mountain range along the border of Laymyethna and Ngathayaung townships. In response, the military council has increased its military presence in the region, dispatching more reinforcements, conducting artillery strikes, and launching aerial and drone attacks. These actions have forced local residents to flee their villages and seek safety elsewhere. The military’s escalating operations have created a humanitarian crisis as civilians continue to be displaced from their homes.
Fighting has been reported in the foothills of the Rakhine Yoma range, and local residents have been forced to evacuate their villages due to security concerns, according to those assisting internally displaced persons. Military sources have confirmed that the Arakan Army (AA) has been advancing and conducting offensive operations in Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Magway Regions, which share borders with Rakhine State. The ongoing military operations and resulting displacement of civilians highlight the deteriorating security situation in the region as the conflict between revolutionary forces and the military council continues to intensify.
