On March 18, the Golden Clear Water People’s Strike Column conducted a protest march in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, demanding action against the violent military under Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The protesters marched to demonstrate their opposition to the military coup while carrying banners with the text ‘ILO Implement Article 33 On Myanmar Now 2025’.
The protesters called for an end to the human rights violations being committed by the terrorist military against civilians and urged the international community to take action against the military’s violence. Specifically, they demanded action under Article 33 of the ILO, which allows member states to impose economic sanctions against another member state. This protest reflects the ongoing resistance against the military dictatorship that has been terrorizing civilians since the coup.
Yinmabin Township has been one of the strong centers of anti-military dictatorship activism within Sagaing Region. Local residents continue to fight for the end of the military dictatorship despite great personal sacrifice. Despite facing military oppression, killings, and destruction of property through arson, the people remain steadfast in their struggle for democracy. The protest demonstrates the unwavering determination of Myanmar’s civilians to resist the military council’s brutal rule and their call for international action to help restore democracy to the country.
