In Magway Region’s Salin Township, a military council soldier was killed and three others were injured following internal fighting that broke out after People’s Defense Force (PDF) units launched an artillery attack on military forces stationed at the Electric Power Corporation (EPC) office in Tanaung sub-township. According to a spokesperson from PDF Territory-3 in Salin Township who spoke to Yangon Modern News, the incident began when resistance forces attacked the military position with heavy weapons on March 16.
The attack targeted military forces stationed at the EPC office located between Myohlwa village and Htan-hnit-pin village in Tanaung sub-township. The PDF forces successfully struck the office building with two artillery shells. Later that night, an argument broke out among the military council soldiers stationed at the position, which escalated into an armed confrontation. In the resulting exchange of fire, one soldier was killed and three others sustained injuries. The PDF official confirmed that while they could verify the casualties from the internal fighting, they were unable to confirm if there were any casualties from their initial artillery attack on the position.
The operation was carried out by revolutionary forces from PDF Territory-3 of Salin Township, who were able to successfully withdraw from the area without suffering any casualties after conducting the artillery strike. Local sources noted that this incident of internal fighting among military council troops serves as another example of deteriorating unity within military ranks. The increasing frequency of such incidents demonstrates the growing tensions and lack of cohesion within military council forces as they continue to face resistance from various revolutionary groups across the country.
