In a battle that occurred on March 16 in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, three military council soldiers were killed and ten were injured, according to a confirmation from an official of Lightning Force, Battalion-12, Company-3 of Monywa District. The clash took place along the Monywa-Mandalay road section.
The incident began around 10:30 AM when two military columns, one consisting of about 60 troops from the Nataykan military camp and another of about 40 troops from within Chaung-U town, advanced on foot along the Monywa-Mandalay main road. When these columns reached approximately two miles east of Chaung-U town, resistance forces launched an initial attack using seven mines, resulting in numerous casualties among the military council troops.
Following this, as the scattered military council soldiers attempted to regroup, resistance forces conducted a drone attack using twenty bombs. When the military council soldiers took shelter in a nearby building, the resistance forces continued their assault with one RPG and four 40mm bombs. These attacks resulted in significant casualties among the military council forces.
After more than an hour of fighting, the military council troops stopped civilian vehicles traveling on the Monywa-Mandalay road and retreated to Chaung-U town and the Nataykan military camp. The military council forces responded with artillery support from the Matu area using howitzers, fired 60mm weapons, and conducted airstrikes with two military aircraft.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Lightning Force, Monywa District PDF Drone Force, Ngamoeyet Column, and Nway Oo Brothers Column. According to battle reports, three military council soldiers were killed and approximately ten were injured, including several who suffered severed limbs. The coordinated attack demonstrated the effectiveness of the resistance forces’ combined operations against the military council troops.
