On March 19, fighting broke out on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region. The clash began around 10:45 AM when revolutionary forces launched an attack on the military council’s Pyinsone Highway Police Outpost located at mile marker 319/6. According to local sources, the exchange of fire lasted approximately 40 minutes.
During the fighting, the highway was temporarily closed, forcing travelers to turn back along their original routes. The battle concluded around noon, after which the highway was reopened to traffic. According to surveillance sources based in Natogyi, following the battle, military council forces numbering around 100 personnel conducted operations around the Pyinsone Police Station area, while the revolutionary forces had already withdrawn from the location.
This engagement represents a significant clash in the Natogyi area and can be seen as a challenge to the military council’s control over the Yangon-Mandalay Highway. While the fighting caused temporary disruption to civilian travel, confirmed information regarding casualties or injuries has not yet been available. The Natogyi People’s Defense Force Battalion 4 of Myingyan District was reportedly involved in the operation, though direct communication with the group has not been established at the time of reporting.
