Two navy personnel from the military council who were wounded in an attack on a naval vessel group in Kyunsu Township, Tanintharyi Region, died while being transported to Myeik, according to a responsible official from the Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred on March 13 when revolutionary forces intercepted and attacked a military council naval group near Won Taung village. The naval group, which was moving from the direction of Myin Twar village and Shaw Taw Maw village, consisted of two ships including Naval Vessel 114, two motorboats, and three smaller fiber boats. After the engagement, two wounded navy personnel were being secretly evacuated by military council forces via motorboat to Myeik when they succumbed to their injuries during the journey.
A spokesperson from the Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force revealed that the military council attempted to secretly transport the wounded personnel to avoid public knowledge of their casualties. The attack was carried out by revolutionary fighters from the Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force, resulting in several minutes of exchange fire. Following the engagement, the revolutionary forces were able to successfully withdraw from the area without suffering any casualties. The incident demonstrates the ongoing resistance operations against military council forces in the Tanintharyi Region, where revolutionary groups continue to challenge the military council’s control over waterways and strategic locations.
