
The military council forces raided Nga Thayaw village in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, on the morning of March 19, burning down houses and firing heavy weapons and small arms at civilians, forcing the entire village to evacuate, according to local sources. Beginning around 6:30 AM, military council troops entered Nga Thayaw village and systematically burned down residential houses. They also indiscriminately fired heavy weapons and small arms at villagers who were fleeing, causing all residents to seek safety elsewhere.
Due to the military council troops’ indiscriminate firing, not only residents of Nga Thayaw village but also thousands of people from surrounding villages have been forced to flee to safety, according to local residents. The military council forces had also burned down Bisapkone village on March 18 before attacking Nga Thayaw village. Currently, due to the military’s ongoing attacks, civilians are scattered while fleeing, and it has not been possible to confirm if there are any casualties or injuries.
The military column that raided Nga Thayaw village is the same group that has been continuously burning down villages in Yesagyo Township and has previously arrested and killed 18 civilians, according to local sources. The military council troops continued to fire small arms even while burning houses, forcing civilians to abandon their homes and properties to escape with their lives, residents reported.
