A drone strike carried out by the Taung Nyo column targeted the residence of Pyu Saw Htee leader Aung Gyi in Let Pan village along the Sittaung River in Waw Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of two military council soldiers. The attack occurred around 6 PM on March 18th when soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were gathered at the location. According to local sources, the strike was precisely executed during a meeting of military personnel and militia members.
The attack not only resulted in the deaths of two soldiers but also left seven Pyu Saw Htee members severely injured. The wounded were initially taken to Myit Kyoe Hospital and subsequently transferred to Taungoo Hospital for further treatment. Let Pan village is known to be one of the strongest Pyu Saw Htee strongholds among the villages along the Sittaung River, with over thirty active militia members based in the area. The village has been a significant base for military-backed militia operations in the region.
Aung Gyi, the Pyu Saw Htee leader, has been known for repeatedly challenging local People’s Defense Force units and collaborating with military council forces to oppress local civilians. This successful drone strike demonstrates the increasing capabilities of local resistance forces and their ability to conduct effective operations against the military council and its affiliated groups. The incident marks a significant development in the ongoing conflict, showing the resistance forces’ growing tactical capabilities and their determination to counter military-backed militia presence in the region.
