The military council conducted aerial bombardments in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, on the evening of March 18, according to local residents. Around 8 PM, military aircraft dropped bombs between Watkone village and Taw village along the Pathein-Monywa road. The bombing occurred in an uninhabited area, resulting in no casualties or injuries, as confirmed by a local resident. The attacks came without any clear justification, causing significant distress among the civilian population.
Currently, due to military propaganda claiming the presence of the Arakan Army (AA) and revolutionary forces in villages near the Rakhine Yoma mountain range along the border of Laymyethna and Ngathayaung townships, the military council has escalated its operations. These include increasing troop deployments, sending more military reinforcements, conducting heavy artillery strikes, and launching aerial and drone attacks. As a result, local residents have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in safer locations. The situation has created a humanitarian crisis as civilians face displacement and insecurity in their communities.
The Arakan Army (AA) has been conducting successive offensive operations in Ayeyarwady, Bago, and Magway Regions, which border Rakhine State, according to local military sources. Fighting has intensified in the Yoma mountain range area, making it unsafe for villagers to remain in their homes. A local humanitarian aid worker reported that many residents have been forced to evacuate to safer areas due to the ongoing conflict. The military council’s aggressive response to the AA’s operations has significantly impacted civilian life in these regions, leading to widespread displacement and humanitarian concerns.
