On March 18, the Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) led a mass public protest against the military dictatorship in Longlone Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region. The demonstration saw active participation from local residents, youth, and civil society organization members who peacefully expressed their opposition to the military regime while carrying banners and posters with anti-dictatorship messages.
The protesters demanded the immediate end of the military dictatorship, the release of all political prisoners, and solutions to the economic, social, educational, and healthcare challenges that citizens are facing under military rule. They also condemned the loss of fundamental human rights under the oppressive military regime. The demonstration highlighted the growing resistance against the military council’s continued suppression of civilian rights and freedoms.
The Democracy Movement Strike Committee of Longlone Township has been consistently working to protect citizens’ rights and maintain anti-military dictatorship activities in the region. The intensity of public demonstrations has increased due to the deteriorating socio-economic conditions, shortage of basic necessities, and rising security concerns in the area following the military coup. The protest reflects the local population’s strong determination to resist the military regime’s oppressive policies and their commitment to restoring democratic governance in Myanmar.
