A spokesperson from the Myaing People’s Defense Force (PDF) has confirmed that six soldiers, including a camp commander, were killed in drone strikes targeting military positions at the Pyu Saw Htee camp in North Khanran village and the Myittha Dam in Gangaw Township, Magway Region. The initial attack began on March 4 at 9:20 AM when joint resistance forces launched drone strikes using Inaga bombs on the Pyu Saw Htee camp in North Khran village, resulting in casualties among soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members.
Subsequent drone attacks were carried out between March 7 and 9 on military positions stationed at the Myittha Dam, resulting in the deaths of one camp commander, one soldier, and four Pyu Saw Htee members, totaling six casualties. Many others sustained severe injuries during these operations. On March 16, two soldiers stationed at the Myittha Dam defected to revolutionary forces and were captured along with an MA-11 rifle and ammunition. The coordinated attacks were conducted jointly by the Myaing PDF, Gangaw Township Combined Forces, Gangaw Township PDF, and the Pauk/Myaing/Kamma drone units.
The resistance forces reported no casualties on their side during these operations. However, on March 17, the military retaliated by conducting jet fighter airstrikes on villages near the Myittha Dam. Local residents have been forced to flee to safety due to the military’s aerial attacks, causing significant concern and displacement in the area. The successful drone operations demonstrate the growing capabilities of resistance forces in their campaign against military positions, while highlighting the ongoing conflict’s impact on civilian populations in the Gangaw region.
