A drone attack was carried out by the military council forces near the residence of KNLA Commander-in-Chief General Saw Johnny, located within KNU Brigade 7 territory. According to KNU sources, three suicide drones launched by the military council forces struck near General Saw Johnny’s residence at around 3 AM on March 18. However, the attack resulted in no casualties or damage to property, as confirmed by KNU sources.
Providing details about the drone attack, KNU sources explained that three consecutive drone bombs caused ground-shaking explosions. One bomb landed near the waterfront, while another exploded near a football field. The military council forces reportedly targeted the KNU Brigade 7 headquarters, with the explosions being notably more powerful than previous attacks. The sources emphasized that these strikes were deliberately aimed at the military command center of Brigade 7.
This attack is believed to be a retaliatory action by the military council following the successful capture of their Pu Lu Tu camp in Paingkyon Township, which falls under KNU Brigade 7’s controlled territory, by KNLA-led allied forces on March 14. KNU sources further confirmed that the military council’s targeting of Brigade 7 headquarters was a direct response to their recent territorial loss. The escalation in drone attacks demonstrates the military council’s increasingly aggressive tactics against ethnic armed organizations and their leadership structures in the region.
