A spokesperson from the Bagan People’s Force has confirmed that over 70 military council troops were killed when resistance forces surrounded and attacked a military column that had entered Nga Tharauk sub-township in Mandalay Region. The entire military column was reportedly annihilated in the battle, with resistance forces seizing weapons and ammunition alongside the deceased soldiers’ bodies. The intense fighting demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region and marked a significant defeat for the military council’s operations in the area.
Meanwhile, military council leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has awarded first-class technology excellence awards to Colonel Myat Min Oo, who had previously provided false claims about electoral fraud in the 2020 general election to justify the military coup. Colonel Myat Min Oo was instrumental in fabricating allegations of voter list irregularities that the military council used as a pretext for seizing power. This recognition highlights the military council’s continued efforts to legitimize their illegal seizure of power through rewards to those who assisted in their false narrative about electoral fraud.
In a separate incident in Pathein city, Ayeyarwady Region, a man armed with two pairs of scissors attacked the Township Police Station, resulting in injuries to four police officers, including Station Chief Kyaw Zay Latt. The attacker also sustained gunshot wounds when police returned fire. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to determine the motivation behind the attack and any potential connections to wider unrest. The incident has raised concerns about security at law enforcement facilities in the region.
