On March 18, the Northern No-Return Spring Revolution Strike Column organized a public demonstration in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region, calling for the implementation of Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Myanmar. This movement aims to draw increased global attention to forced labor, human rights violations, and labor rights abuses under the military dictatorship. The demonstration was conducted under the banner ‘ILO Implement Article 33 On Myanmar Now 2025.’
Article 33 of the ILO Constitution is a provision that allows for action against member states that seriously violate labor rights. Under the current military council’s rule in Myanmar, civilians are widely subjected to forced military service, forced labor, and various forms of oppression and abuse. The demonstration highlights the urgent need for international intervention to address these systematic violations of labor and human rights.
The Northern No-Return Spring Revolution Strike Column, together with local residents, conducted a peaceful gathering to demand immediate implementation of Article 33 on Myanmar by the ILO and called for concrete action against the military council’s widespread labor rights violations. This movement represents a significant step in the ongoing efforts to secure international attention and effective action for the rights of Myanmar’s people, particularly in addressing the systematic forced labor and human rights abuses perpetrated by the military regime. The demonstration emphasizes the critical need for the international community to take stronger measures against the military council’s continued violations of fundamental human and labor rights.
