
On March 16 at approximately 6:00 AM, a man armed with two pairs of scissors entered the Pathein City Police Station in Ayeyarwady Region and launched an attack that left four police officers injured, including Station Commander Kyaw Zay Latt. The incident occurred when the assailant suddenly entered the police station compound and began attacking officers and staff members with scissors.
According to local sources, the attacker has been identified as a resident of Ngapudaw Township, though his complete name and address have not been disclosed. During the incident, military council police forces responded by shooting the attacker, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the arrest. The assailant also suffered multiple injuries from beatings during the arrest and is currently in critical condition.
A Pathein-based source revealed that while police initially attempted to suppress news of the attack, information eventually emerged about the incident. The source confirmed that the attacker indiscriminately targeted anyone he encountered within the police station compound with the scissors, resulting in injuries to the station commander and three other officers. The attacker was unable to escape and was captured by police forces. His current medical condition is described as critical due to the combination of the gunshot wound and injuries sustained during the violent arrest by police officers. The severity of his injuries has raised concerns about his survival.
