Intense fighting has erupted in Salin Township, Magway Region, between military council forces and resistance forces. On March 16 at 2:15 PM, the Bamar Army intercepted and attacked an armored military vehicle traveling from Salin to Sinphyukyun town, resulting in one soldier’s death. The armored vehicle was carrying approximately 20 military personnel who were heading to Sinphyukyun to reinforce troops in the area.
During the attack, one soldier was fatally shot in the head, while another sustained injuries to his hand. Several other soldiers were also reported wounded in the engagement. Currently, the military council is conducting a major operation in Salin Township, deploying tanks, armored vehicles, Mi-35 helicopters, naval vessels, and infantry forces. The military is also utilizing riverine warfare vessels for operations along waterways, and according to the Bamar Army, they are continuously reinforcing their troops due to heavy casualties sustained from daily attacks by resistance forces.
The military council’s offensive includes coordinated operations involving ground forces, air assets, and naval components. Local residents are increasingly concerned about their safety as military activities intensify in the region. The Bamar Army reports that the military council’s recent reinforcement efforts come as a response to significant losses suffered during ongoing resistance operations. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to engage in combat, with civilian safety becoming an increasing concern amid the escalating military activities in the township.
