
According to local sources, military council forces conducting operations in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, have killed 18 innocent civilians and burned down nearly 400 houses in their brutal campaign. On March 2 at 6:30 AM, approximately 200 soldiers from Pakokku Division 101 and Battalions 256, 257, and 258 from Yesagyo Township entered Myaysunhtaw village in the river island area and began burning down houses in the village.
The military council forces continued burning houses in Myaysunhtaw village until March 4, destroying over 270 homes. On March 5, they proceeded to enter Zarapni village where they burned down 68 houses. They then moved on to Thagaung Lei village and burned an additional 20 houses. As a result of the military council’s brutality, a total of over 358 houses were destroyed by fire across the three villages.
Furthermore, the military council forces brutally killed 18 civilians from Myaysunhtaw village, including elderly residents. Among those killed were U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Than Mani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), U Kyaw Htay (67 years old), U Aung Myint (69 years old), Ko Thant Zin (35 years old), and Ko Aung Linn Naing (40 years old).
Currently, the military council forces are continuing to raid the villages they previously burned, using trucks to loot remaining civilian property and transport it to Myin village and Pyusawthi village on a daily basis, according to local residents. The military forces continue to operate throughout the Yesagyo area, using Myin village and Pyusawthi village as bases while moving between villages. The military council’s campaign of violence and destruction has left hundreds of families displaced and caused immense suffering in the region, with ongoing threats to civilian safety and property.
