The Karen National Union (KNU) sources have confirmed that the military council forces launched an attack using suicide drones near the residence of KNLA Commander-in-Chief General Saw Johnny, located within KNU Brigade 7’s controlled territory. The incident occurred at 3 AM on March 18, when three suicide drones launched by the military council forces struck and exploded near General Saw Johnny’s residence in KNU Brigade 7 territory. However, the attack resulted in no casualties or damage to property.
According to KNU sources, three drone bombs exploded in succession, with explosions powerful enough to cause ground tremors. One of the bombs detonated near a waterfront area, while another exploded near a football field. The military council forces targeted the KNU Brigade 7 headquarters with these drone strikes, and observers noted that the explosive power of the bombs used in this attack was notably stronger than previous incidents. The sources emphasized that the explosions were significant, though fortunately resulting in no casualties or structural damage.
This attack appears to be a retaliatory action by the military council following the capture of their Pu Lu Tu camp in Paingkyon Township by KNLA-led allied forces on March 14. KNU sources analyze that the military council has specifically targeted Brigade 7 headquarters with these suicide drone attacks in response to their recent territorial losses. This drone bombing near civilian residential areas represents another example of the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian populations, demonstrating their continued pattern of aggression against non-military targets in their operations against resistance forces.
