
Intense fighting continues in Salin Township, Magway Region, between military council forces and revolutionary forces. On March 16th in the afternoon, the Bamar Army intercepted and attacked an armored military vehicle traveling from Salin to Sinphyukyun town, resulting in one soldier’s death and several injuries. In the attack, one soldier was fatally shot in the head, while another sustained an arm injury from gunfire.
The military council has been attempting to expand its military presence in Salin Township, deploying tanks, armored vehicles, Mi-35 helicopters, naval vessels, and infantry troops in their operations. This military buildup comes in response to increasing casualties suffered by military council forces from attacks by revolutionary groups, according to the Bamar Army’s statement. The military council continues to face daily attacks and sustained casualties, prompting their efforts to reinforce their positions.
Currently, fighting has intensified throughout Salin Township, with the military council conducting joint army, navy, and air force operations. Revolutionary forces continue to monitor military council movements and carry out interceptive attacks. Local civilians have been forced to relocate to safer areas due to the fighting, and security conditions remain concerning according to local residents. The military council’s reinforcement convoy, carrying approximately 20 troops, was part of their effort to strengthen their position in the area, demonstrating the ongoing escalation of military operations in the region during March 2024.
