The Bamar Army (BA) has reported that one soldier was killed and several others were injured in an ambush on a military armored vehicle in Salin Township, Magway Region. The incident occurred on March 16 at 2:15 PM when the 707th Battalion of the Bamar Army intercepted and attacked an armored vehicle carrying approximately 20 military personnel traveling from Salin town to Sinphyukyun. During the attack, one soldier was fatally shot in the head, another sustained injuries to his hand, and several others were wounded in the engagement.
Currently, the military council is conducting a major operation in Salin Township, deploying tanks, armored vehicles, Mi-35 helicopters, naval vessels, and infantry forces. Despite launching coordinated attacks from land, water, and air, the military council forces are suffering significant casualties due to resistance from revolutionary forces. The military council is attempting to reinforce its troops to replace those lost in combat, according to the Bamar Army’s statement. The military operation in March 2024 involves a substantial deployment of forces, including armored vehicles, helicopters, riverine vessels, and ground troops.
The fighting in Salin Township continues to intensify daily, with revolutionary forces consistently engaging military council columns. Although the military council is experiencing heavy losses, they persist with their operations to maintain control of the region. Local civilians have been forced to flee their homes due to the fighting and are in need of humanitarian assistance. The military council’s reinforcement efforts come as a response to their mounting casualties, as resistance forces continue their defensive operations throughout the township. The combination of ground operations, air support, and naval assets indicates the scale of the military council’s attempts to maintain their presence in the area, despite facing significant resistance from revolutionary forces who are defending the civilian population.
