
According to local sources, the military council’s brutal operations in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, have resulted in the deaths of 18 innocent civilians and the destruction of nearly 400 homes. On March 2 at 6:30 AM, approximately 200 soldiers from Pakokku Division 101 and Yesagyo-based battalions 256, 257, and 258 entered Myay Sone Taw village in the river island area and began burning down residents’ homes.
The military council forces continued their destruction in Myay Sone Taw village until March 4, burning down more than 270 houses. On March 5, they moved to Zarapni village where they destroyed 68 houses, and later that day proceeded to Thagong Lay village where they burned down over 20 more homes. The military council’s actions resulted in the total destruction of more than 358 houses across these three villages.
Additionally, the military council forces brutally killed 18 civilians from Myay Sone Taw village, including elderly residents. Among the victims were U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60), U Than Mani (88), Daw Than Pyay (60), Daw Hla Ngwe (86), U Kyaw Htay (67), U Aung Myint (69), Ko Thant Zin (35), and Ko Aung Linn Naing (40). The military also killed residents from other villages including U Nyunt Way (70) and U San Win (50) from Malaka Chan village, U Chit Maung (65) from Thagong Lay village, U Than Min Hlaing (42) from Thagong (Main) village, U Ohn (91), Daw San Way (70), and three unidentified civilians.
Currently, the military council forces are returning to the villages they previously destroyed and are systematically looting civilian property, transporting stolen goods daily to Min village and Pyu Saw Htee village using trucks. They have also raided Besat Kone village and continue to loot civilian properties. The military council forces are maintaining their presence in the Yesagyo area, using Min village and Pyu Saw Htee village as bases while continuing their brutal operations against civilians. Local sources report that the military continues to terrorize the area, moving between their established bases while carrying out acts of violence and theft against the civilian population.
