
A soldier from the military council was killed in a sniper attack carried out by the Solo Aung Gyi resistance group near the Junction Dhamma Hall in Salingyi town, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred on March 15 at approximately 10:20 AM when about 30 soldiers from the military council’s stationed base in Salingyi town went out on patrol. Revolutionary fighters from the Solo Aung Gyi group had positioned themselves with sniper weapons near the Junction Dhamma Hall and launched their attack when the military council troops arrived in the area.
Following the initial attack, a firefight ensued between both sides lasting approximately 15 minutes. During the engagement, one military council soldier was killed and another was wounded. Although the military council troops returned fire, the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties. The Solo Aung Gyi group has pledged to continue their operations against military council forces in Salingyi town. A spokesperson from the Solo Aung Gyi group emphasized their commitment to completely eliminating the military dictatorship and stated that they plan to intensify their urban operations in the future.
A representative from the Solo Aung Gyi group has called for continued support and cooperation from local civilians to sustain their urban military operations. They expressed their determination to fight relentlessly against the military dictatorship and announced plans to expand their military operations within the town. The group emphasized that their resistance activities will continue with increased intensity as part of their broader strategy to combat the military council’s presence in the region.
