The Yesagyo Township Info Committee has confirmed that the military council forces have been conducting arson attacks on Myaytaw village in Magway Region’s Yesagyo Township for two consecutive days. Beginning March 14, military council troops entered Myaytaw village and systematically burned down residential houses and a monastery. The destruction continued into March 15, with troops resuming their arson attacks on remaining houses starting from 8:30 AM. Due to these consecutive days of destruction, numerous homes in the village have been burned down, though the exact number of destroyed properties cannot yet be confirmed according to local sources.
The military council forces responsible for these attacks on Myaytaw village have been identified as the same unit that previously committed atrocities in other areas of Yesagyo Township. They were responsible for killing 6 civilians in Thagone (Ywarma) village and the brutal murder of 11 civilians in Myaysunhtaw village, as confirmed by local residents. Additionally, the Thaungtha Township Public Movement Committee has reported that the military council forces have conducted aerial bombardments in Thaungtha Township, Mandalay Region.
On March 14 at approximately 1:53 AM, military council helicopters launched an aerial attack on the area between Yonesi Gyi village and Panpaung village in Thaungtha Township, dropping nine bombs and conducting strafing runs with machine guns. The Thaungtha Township Public Movement Committee has stated that they are currently unable to confirm whether there were any civilian casualties resulting from these aerial attacks. Human rights observers have noted that such targeted attacks against civilian populations constitute war crimes. These ongoing military operations demonstrate the council’s continued use of excessive force against civilian populations, resulting in widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure and displacement of local communities.
