A representative from the We Love Myaing organization has confirmed that an airstrike conducted by the military council forces on two villages in Myaing Township, Magway Region, resulted in the death of three people, including a monk, and injured 17 others. The attack, which occurred around 12:00 PM on March 14, was carried out by three fighter jets from the Magway and Meiktila air bases without any ongoing battles in the area, making it an unprovoked assault on civilian areas.
In Suwin village, a bomb struck a civilian residence, causing its destruction, while another house was burned down, resulting in injuries to two residents. The situation in Waytaung (Ta) village was more severe, where a bomb hit a monastery, causing it to collapse and catch fire. The attack claimed the lives of a novice monk in his 30s and two civilians in their 20s. Additionally, one monk, three novice monks, and six villagers sustained injuries in this incident. The northern part of Waytaung (Ta) village also suffered significant damage, with four houses being destroyed by fire and seven more villagers suffering injuries from the bombing.
Local residents have indicated that these airstrikes appear to be deliberately targeting civilian populations, as there were no active conflicts between the military council forces and local defense forces in the area at the time of the attack. The military council continues to target civilian areas without military engagement, demonstrating a pattern of attacks against non-military targets. This incident represents another example of the military council’s use of disproportionate force against civilian populations, resulting in significant casualties and damage to religious and civilian infrastructure.
