
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) information officer from Sintguu Township has confirmed that 27 civilians, including a 4-month-old infant and six children, were killed and 32 others were injured in an airstrike carried out by the military council forces on Letpan Hla village in Sintguu Township, Mandalay Region. The aerial attack occurred at approximately 3:14 PM on March 14, 2024.
The military council forces conducted the airstrike on the village despite there being no active fighting in or around Letpan Hla village at the time of the attack. The deliberate bombing resulted in the complete destruction of five residential homes, with some victims’ bodies being severely burned in the ensuing fires. Local residents and rescue teams are currently conducting search operations in the area to locate any additional casualties that may still be buried in the debris. The attack has caused significant devastation to civilian infrastructure and resulted in numerous civilian casualties.
Among the 32 injured survivors, many have sustained severe injuries and are in critical condition, leading to concerns that the death toll may continue to rise, according to the PDF information officer. The wounded are being transported to nearby clinics and hospitals for emergency medical treatment, with many requiring urgent care. Local residents have condemned the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilians, particularly the devastating impact on children and innocent villagers. The attack represents another instance of the military council’s continued use of airstrikes against civilian populations, resulting in significant loss of life and destruction of civilian property.
