The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)-led joint forces have successfully captured the military council’s Pulutoo camp located near the Thai-Myanmar border in Hlaingbwe Township, Karen State. The offensive operation began on February 26, targeting the military council’s Infantry Battalion 31 base at Pulutoo. The operation was led by KNLA Brigade 7 and allied forces. Despite the military council’s resistance, including airstrikes, the Pulutoo camp was completely destroyed and fell into the hands of the joint forces at 00:10 hours Thai time on March 14.
During the battle, numerous casualties were reported on the military council’s side, with surviving soldiers fleeing across the border into Thailand. The Thai military provided humanitarian assistance to the fleeing Myanmar soldiers in accordance with humanitarian principles. Additionally, Thai authorities have significantly heightened security measures along the Thai-Myanmar border areas near the conflict zone. The intense fighting has led to a complete collapse of the military council’s position in the area, marking a significant victory for the resistance forces.
When seeking confirmation from the Karen National Union (KNU), they indicated that detailed information about the current situation was not yet available. They noted that there had been previous reports of the Pulutoo military camp’s capture in recent days. As this is military-related news, official confirmation would only come through formal announcements from the KNU’s information and public relations department. The strategic importance of this capture lies in its location along the Thai-Myanmar border, potentially affecting the military council’s control over this crucial border area.
