
A military council soldier from Shwebo Township in Sagaing Region has surrendered along with his family members and a weapon, according to an official from the Shwebo Township People’s Defense Force. On March 11, a Pyu Saw Htee member from Thone Thee Taw village, who was stationed in Zee Phyu Kone Pyu Saw Htee village in Township 2 area of Shwebo Township, surrendered with one carbine rifle, three ammunition magazines, and 157 carbine rounds, bringing his family members with him.
An official from the Shwebo Township People’s Defense Force stated that the sooner military council soldiers surrender, the sooner they can breathe the air of freedom. The revolutionary forces warmly welcomed the surrendered soldier and his family members, ensuring their treatment in accordance with human rights standards. Those who surrendered were awarded appropriate honorary compensation for their decision to defect.
Additionally, three military council soldiers stationed in Pale town, Sagaing Region, surrendered with two weapons. Two of them who brought weapons were awarded 2 million kyats each, according to an announcement from the Burma National Revolutionary Army (BNRA). On February 27, Lance Corporal Hla Min from Infantry Division 33 based in Sagaing, who was stationed in Pale, contacted the BNRA and surrendered with his MA1 rifle.
Similarly, on March 6, two military servicemen, Wai Aung and Myo Kyaw, who were stationed in Pale, made contact with the BNRA and surrendered with one MA1 rifle. Of the three surrendered soldiers, two brought two weapons, two ammunition magazines, and 49 rounds of ammunition, for which they were awarded 2 million kyats each by the Burma National Revolutionary Army. All three defectors have been safely transported to their desired locations. The BNRA has announced that it will continue to warmly welcome all soldiers, police, and Pyu Saw Htee members who wish to surrender from the military council’s machinery.
