Thai authorities have arrested 25 Myanmar nationals in two separate incidents for illegal entry and working without proper documentation, according to Thai media reports. The arrests occurred in two different locations – one at a swimming pool construction site in Pattaya and another in Kanchanaburi province. The first incident involved 16 Myanmar construction workers, while the second involved 9 undocumented migrants.
In the first case, Thai authorities conducted a raid on March 11 at swimming pool construction sites in Pattaya, where they discovered 16 Myanmar nationals working illegally alongside 6 Chinese nationals. The Myanmar workers were found to be lacking proper work permits and could not produce valid passports or visa documentation. Thai officials stated that these individuals were in violation of Thai labor laws by engaging in unauthorized employment. The inspection revealed that none of the Myanmar workers had the necessary legal documentation required for foreign workers in Thailand.
In the second incident, vehicle inspection officers in Kanchanaburi province stopped a suspicious vehicle and found 9 Myanmar nationals cramped inside. The group consisted of 3 men and 6 women, all of whom had entered Thailand illegally through the Three Pagodas Pass border route. During questioning, they admitted to entering Thailand with the intention of seeking employment. Thai authorities have filed charges against all 9 individuals for illegal border crossing. The authorities confirmed that these migrants had no legal documentation or proper permits to enter or work in Thailand, leading to their immediate arrest and legal proceedings under Thai immigration laws.
