A military airstrike on a high school in Htauk Sha Pin village, Pauk Township, Magway Region, has resulted in the death of one civilian and injured a female student. The incident occurred on March 11 at approximately 3:30 PM when a military helicopter from LIB 22 dropped bombs on the school building and a nearby house. Local sources confirmed that two bombs were deployed during the attack, with one striking the school building directly and another hitting a residential building adjacent to the school.
The attack claimed the life of Daw Htint, a 55-year-old civilian who died instantly, while a female student sustained injuries to her hand. The targeted school serves as the only high school in the area, accommodating students from surrounding villages who travel there for their education. The incident occurred during school dismissal time, which fortunately meant that most students had already left the premises. However, parents and guardians who had come to pick up their children were forced to take shelter under trees along the roadside when they heard the approaching military aircraft.
These deliberate attacks by the military on civilian areas and educational facilities continue to result in civilian casualties and disruption of educational activities in the region. According to local residents, these airstrikes have severely impacted educational operations in the area, causing significant concern for the safety and security of students. The targeting of civilian infrastructure, particularly schools, has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among local communities, affecting their ability to provide and receive education safely.
