Revolutionary forces have issued a warning about the increased use of suicide drones by the military council in the ongoing battle in Moebye town, located on the border of Karenni State and Shan State’s Pekon Township. The warning comes as the military council has suffered significant casualties in the area. According to officials from Battalion 1001 and Moebye People’s Defense Force, the military council began deploying suicide drones to attack within Moebye town starting March 9, while their ground forces have also intensified their offensive by pushing into the town, leading to escalated fighting.
Despite the intense battles currently raging in Moebye, there is growing concern as civilians continue to use routes through the area. The revolutionary forces have particularly emphasized the danger posed by the military council’s suicide drones, which are capable of targeting vehicles. They strongly advise against non-essential travel through the region. Additionally, the resistance forces have urgently requested support from the public for equipment such as jammers to defend against the military council’s drone attacks, as they face extended periods of military engagement and increasing technological threats from the junta forces.
The military council has been repeatedly launching offensives against Moebye using forcibly recruited soldiers as their main fighting force, while revolutionary forces continue to mount strong resistance against these attacks. While both sides have suffered casualties in the current fighting, reports from resistance forces indicate that the military council has experienced higher casualties. Analysts suggest that the military council’s increased reliance on technological weapons like drones is an attempt to compensate for their mounting losses. The situation highlights the ongoing pattern of the military council’s use of force against its own people while resistance forces work to protect civilian populations.
