According to sources from the Naypyidaw Alar Air Base, a Russian cargo aircraft delivered military equipment to the Naypyidaw Alar Air Force Base on the evening of March 8. The aircraft, identified as IL 76-RA-76842 (Ilyushin il-76TD), flew directly from St. Petersburg, Russia. The plane departed Naypyidaw on March 9 after delivering its military cargo to the air base.
Sources confirmed that the aircraft returned to Russia empty, carrying no cargo on its return flight. This delivery occurred while the head of the military council was visiting Russia. The military council has been consistently importing weapons and military equipment from Russia. The Naypyidaw Alar Air Base serves as one of the military council’s primary air bases and is a key location for international arms imports.
Since seizing power from the civilian government, the military council has increased its military cooperation with Russia. Analysts note that these continuous weapons imports are likely to lead to increased oppression of civilians. The military council has been maintaining close military ties with Russia, using various channels to acquire weapons and military equipment despite international condemnation of its actions against civilians.
