On March 10, protest groups in Yangon conducted a campaign demanding action from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference regarding the military council’s oppression of Myanmar workers. The participants wore t-shirts bearing the text ‘ILO A 33 MYANMAR 2025’ during their demonstration to make their demands visible.
This campaign was jointly organized by four Yangon Revolutionary Alliance groups along with Yangon ground protest forces. The protesters highlighted how the military council has been violating workers’ fundamental rights, including restrictions on union formation, collective bargaining rights, and workplace rights. They emphasized the systematic oppression of labor rights under military rule.
The military council’s oppressive measures against workers include the arrest and detention of labor rights activists, declaring labor unions as illegal organizations, wage reductions, and arbitrary dismissals. The campaign called for the ILO to investigate these violations of workers’ rights in Myanmar and take necessary action. The protesters emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to protect Myanmar’s workforce from the military council’s continuing violations of labor rights and human dignity.
