In Nat Htamin village, Minle Township, Bago Region, village administrator Thein Naing Soe, who had been forcing civilians and youth who couldn’t afford military service fees to serve as porters for the military, was killed in an attack by resistance forces. On March 8 at approximately 11:45 AM, combined forces from Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3802’s Units 2 and 3, along with the Minle Township People’s Defense Force, entered the administrator’s house and shot him. He sustained three gunshot wounds to the head and died instantly.
The deceased administrator, also known as Ngaylae, had been oppressing local civilians by forcibly collecting money from impoverished residents under the guise of military service fees. Additionally, he would report to the military those who couldn’t pay, leading to their arrest. He was also known for providing false information to the military about civilians, resulting in the arrest of innocent people. His actions had forced many local residents to flee their homes, severely disrupting their livelihoods to the point where many were unable to work and faced extreme hardship.
According to a spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District PDF, the administrator had been defiant towards revolutionary forces and ignored complaints from civilians while continuing his oppressive activities. The resistance forces took action to protect the lives and property of civilians. Battalion 3802’s Unit 3 has issued a warning to civilians to avoid areas near military forces and their supporters, as they plan to intensify their operations against the military council and its collaborators who continue to oppress the people.
