According to local residents, three buffaloes were killed in an airstrike by the military council forces using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Htee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, though no civilian casualties were reported. The military council forces conducted the aerial bombardment near Kwin Gyi village on March 8 at 5 PM without any ongoing battles in the area. While the bombs landed outside the village, preventing civilian casualties, one buffalo was found dead after being thrown and caught in a tree due to the blast impact.
According to a local resident, one bomb struck near a road junction by a coconut tree at the village entrance, causing a fuel shop to catch fire and killing three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in farmland near an agriculture center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village, creating large craters where the bombs had impacted. Fortunately, as the bombs did not fall within the residential areas of the village, there were no civilian casualties reported.
Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents forced to flee and become internally displaced due to the military council’s airstrikes. Local residents report that the military council deliberately targets civilian areas even without active conflicts, resulting in the loss of lives, homes, and properties of local people who continue to live in fear. The indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas has created an atmosphere of terror and uncertainty among the local population, forcing many to abandon their homes and livelihoods to seek safety elsewhere.
