In a coordinated effort across Yangon, activist groups have conducted a campaign posting warrant photos of terrorist military leader Min Aung Hlaing and Russian President Vladimir Putin, demonstrating solidarity between the people of Myanmar and Ukraine. The activity, which took place on March 9, involved systematically posting warrant photos and messages throughout the city’s busy areas, highlighting the shared struggle against authoritarian forces. This initiative aimed to showcase the unity between Myanmar and Ukrainian people in their respective fights against oppression and violence.
The campaign was carried out by four allied revolutionary groups in Yangon, collectively known as Yangon 4 Brothers (Y4B), comprising Linn Yaung Ni Youth Organization (LYNYO), Mayangone Democratic Front (MDF), Kyimyindaing Networks (KMD18), and Owl Community. These organizations worked together to strategically place the warrant photos and solidarity messages across various townships, main roads, neighborhoods, and high-traffic areas throughout Yangon. Their coordinated effort symbolizes the resistance against military dictatorship and the support for international action against those responsible for violence and oppression.
This activism draws parallel between the ongoing violence in Myanmar and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, highlighting the similar struggles faced by people in both nations. The campaign seeks to draw international attention to the actions of both Min Aung Hlaing and Vladimir Putin, calling for accountability and justice. The people of Myanmar continue their fight for democracy and freedom, much like the Ukrainian people’s struggle for sovereignty and independence. This demonstration of solidarity emphasizes the global nature of the fight against authoritarianism and the importance of international support for democratic movements facing violent oppression.
