
A police corporal from Myatdaing police station in Paungde Township, Bago Region, escaped an ambush while collecting extortion money, but his belongings were seized by resistance forces. The incident occurred on March 8 at 3:30 PM between Thayemae and Kontha villages in Paungde Township. Members of Battalion 3601, Column 5 of the Pyay District People’s Defense Force conducted the ambush operation. Police Corporal Thein Lwin spotted the resistance forces from a distance, abandoned his motorcycle, and escaped by jumping into a canal embankment.
Following the incident, the resistance forces seized several items from Police Corporal Thein Lwin, including one motorcycle, three hand grenades, six rounds of various ammunition, one pair of handcuffs, 130,000 kyats in cash, a motorcycle registration book, a police ID card, a motorcycle driving license, and various documents. According to local sources, Police Corporal Thein Lwin had been involved in forced military recruitment of villagers within the Myatdaing police station jurisdiction, extorting money from wealthy individuals through arrests, and his acts of torture and abuse had resulted in deaths and imprisonments.
Shadow, the intelligence and information officer of People’s Defense Force Battalion 3601, urged members of the military council forces, police forces, and Pyu Saw Htee groups to cease their violent activities and defect to the people’s side by joining the People’s Defense Forces as soon as possible. These incidents reflect the ongoing collapse of the military council’s administrative mechanisms and demonstrate the continued oppression of civilians. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to protecting civilians while opposing the military council’s systematic abuse of power and violence against the people of Myanmar.
