Revolutionary forces have launched a grenade attack on the military council-controlled ward administrator’s office in Ward 141 of Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. The attack was carried out at 10:01 PM on March 8 in a joint operation between the Yangon Army (YA) and the Western District People’s Defense Force. Officials confirmed that the attack was conducted in response to the continuous oppression of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates under military council authority.
Ward administrators under the military council have been implementing various oppressive measures against local residents, including forced military recruitment, household inspections, and night-time raids on homes. They have also been extorting money from locals and making threats to extract payments. According to a Yangon Army (YA) official, the attack likely resulted in casualties among those present at the administrator’s office at the time of the incident. The ward administrator and his associates have been consistently implementing the military council’s oppressive policies against civilians in the area.
Revolutionary forces have declared their commitment to continue their offensive against the military council and its subordinates until the fall of the military dictatorship. They have stated their intention to eliminate those who perpetrate violence against civilians. The attack represents an escalation in the ongoing resistance activities in Dagon Myothit (South) Township, where attacks against military council administrative mechanisms have been increasing, indicating a strengthening people’s revolutionary movement in the area. The resistance forces emphasized that such operations will continue as part of their strategy to dismantle the military council’s administrative structure at the local level.
