The village administrator of Nat Htamin village in Minle Township, Bago Region, who had been forcing local youth into military service when they couldn’t pay military service fees, was killed in an attack by revolutionary forces. According to sources from the Thayarwaddy District PDF, Thein Naing Soe, also known as Ngaylae, was shot dead at his residence on March 8 at approximately 11:45 AM. The operation was jointly carried out by Battalion 3802’s Units 2 and 3 of Thayarwaddy District and the Minle Township People’s Defense Force, resulting in his immediate death after sustaining three gunshot wounds to the head.
The deceased administrator had been actively involved in several oppressive activities against local civilians. He was known for forcibly collecting so-called military service fees from local residents and forcing young people from impoverished families who couldn’t afford these payments into military service. Additionally, he had been providing false information about revolutionary forces to the military and openly challenging resistance groups with contempt. These actions ultimately led to the targeted operation against him. The administrator’s activities had caused severe hardship for local residents, with many forced to flee their homes and facing daily survival challenges.
A spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District PDF stated that they will continue to take action against military collaborators and informants who oppress civilians. The revolutionary forces have issued warnings to the public to avoid close contact or association with such military affiliates and their supporters. They emphasized that their operations will intensify against those who actively support the military council’s oppressive measures against civilians. The PDF has specifically cautioned local residents to maintain distance from individuals known to be working with or supporting military operations in the area.
