Resistance groups in Yangon have conducted a campaign posting warrant photos of military leader Min Aung Hlaing and Russian President Vladimir Putin throughout the city. The activity, which took place on March 9, was carried out as a demonstration of solidarity between the people of Myanmar and Ukraine. This initiative combines the resistance against Myanmar’s military coup with the international movement opposing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, highlighting the parallel struggles for democracy in both nations.
The campaign was led by four allied Yangon revolutionary groups known as the Yangon 4 Brothers (Y4B), comprising the Linn Yaung Ni Youth Organization (LYNYO), Mayangone Democratic Front (MDF), Kyimyindaing Networks (KMD18), and the Owl Community. These groups strategically posted warrant photos and symbolic images across various townships, targeting main roads and high-traffic areas throughout Yangon. This action was intended to bring international attention to the crimes committed by both the Myanmar military council and the Russian military forces.
This demonstration serves as a powerful symbol of unity between the people of Myanmar and Ukraine, highlighting their shared struggle against authoritarian regimes. Both countries face military aggression and are fighting for democracy and freedom. The activists believe such actions are crucial for drawing international attention and demanding justice, as both nations continue to resist military violence and oppression. The campaign represents a significant effort to demonstrate how the struggles for democracy and human rights transcend national boundaries, connecting the aspirations of people fighting against military dictatorship and foreign aggression in different parts of the world.
