The Yangon Army (YA) and Western District People’s Defense Force jointly carried out an attack using hand grenades on the military council-appointed ward administrator’s office in Ward 141 of Dagon Myothit (South) Township, Yangon Region. According to a Yangon Army official who confirmed the incident to Yangon Modern News Agency, the attack took place at 10:01 PM on March 8. The operation was conducted in response to continuous oppression and abuse of local residents by the ward administrator and his associates.
The Yangon Army spokesperson indicated that the ward administrator and his subordinates were likely casualties in the attack. The representative further stated that they would continue to target similar military council administrative targets until the complete fall of the military dictatorship. The coordinated operation demonstrates the systematic cooperation between various People’s Defense Forces in effectively targeting the military council’s administrative machinery.
As the military council’s oppression has intensified in the Dagon Myothit (South) area, attacks by People’s Defense Forces have correspondingly increased. Ward administrators under the military council have become targets of resistance forces due to their involvement in illegal extortion from local residents, intimidation, and acting as informants for the military council. These attacks are aimed at dismantling the military dictatorship’s administrative structure at the local level. The resistance forces have made it clear that such operations will continue as part of their broader strategy to overthrow the military regime that has been oppressing civilians since the coup.
