In Nat Htamin village, Minle Township of Bago Region, village administrator Thein Naing Soe, who had been forcing civilians and youth who couldn’t pay military service fees into military service, was killed in an attack by revolutionary forces. On March 8 at approximately 11:45 AM, combined forces from Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3802’s Units 2 and 3, along with Minle Township People’s Defense Force, entered the administrator’s house and shot him, resulting in his immediate death from three gunshot wounds to the head. The village administrator had been forcibly collecting money from impoverished civilians under the pretext of military service fees, and those who couldn’t pay were forced into military service or arrested based on false reports he provided to the military.
According to a spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District People’s Defense Force, administrator Thein Naing Soe had been challenging revolutionary forces while disregarding their warnings. He had been demanding money from civilians as military service fees and forcing those who couldn’t pay into military service or porter duties, causing severe hardship for local residents. Villagers have been forced to flee their homes due to forced military service and porter duties, leaving them unable to work and facing significant economic hardships, with some even struggling to afford food.
According to a statement from Battalion 3802 Unit 3 of Thayarwaddy District, they will continue to target the terrorist military and their supporters who are causing suffering to civilians and revolutionary forces. They have warned civilians to avoid staying near or traveling in areas where the terrorist military and their collaborators are present. The revolutionary forces have stated they will continue to protect the lives, property, and security of local civilians. The elimination of the village administrator represents their ongoing efforts to protect civilians from military council oppression and forced recruitment practices.
