
The military council conducted an airstrike using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Thee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of three buffaloes and forcing local residents to flee their homes. The attack occurred on March 8 at 5 PM when the military council dropped bombs in the area without any ongoing battles. While the bombs landed outside the village, avoiding civilian casualties, one buffalo was killed after being thrown into a tree by the blast impact. Local residents reported the incident to Yangon Modern News Agency.
During the bombing, one bomb struck near a road junction by a coconut tree at the entrance of Kwin Gyi village, destroying a fuel shop and killing three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in a paddy field near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village. The bombing created large craters in the impact areas, but fortunately did not hit the village itself, preventing any civilian casualties. According to locals, Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents flee due to the military council’s aerial attacks.
The military council’s continued unprovoked airstrikes against civilian areas have resulted in the loss of lives, properties, and livelihoods, forcing residents to flee their homes in fear. The aerial attacks have severely impacted local farming and livestock activities, leaving residents concerned for their daily safety and security. The military’s actions have created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with villagers having to abandon their homes and seek shelter elsewhere, disrupting their normal lives and economic activities.
